The double slit experiment is a popular one physacists reference. In this experiment there is a wall with two slits or “windows” in it, that one machine will shoot electrons at. If scientists conducted this experiment with golf balls then the golf balls would go through one or the other slits and make marks on the backstop that resemble the two slits. Because electrons are particles the physicists conducting the experiment thought that the same pattern would appear on the wall behind the two slits. When the experiment was conducted, the electrons did not move like they were supposed to at all. Instead they had an interference pattern that was most baffling. When the electrons were shot through the two slits, they instead of going through one or the other, they went through both slits at the same time. Well, now we have to figure out why they did that. So going back to the interference pattern that was on the back wall, a closer look will show that it is the same as the interference pattern as a wave.
